Harmful “Pretty” Things

Harmful “Pretty” Things

My baby girls beautiful flowers.!

We were playing in the yard and chased a butterfly to the hedge. At the hedge were all these pretty flowers and Jolie Rae just had to pick a few. I told her we could make a bouquet and put them inside like we do with our roses. Once inside I started trimming the flowers and a spider eased his way out of them, I smashed him and thought "man that'll preach, there was something potentially harmful in something I thought was so beautiful and brought into my home"
Anyway, the spider was smashed and the flowers were on display and all was well. The next morning Jolie wakes herself up sneezing 5-6 times back to back. Colt wakes up soon after Jolie and his eyes are watery along with a runny nose. I've never had allergies so I assumed they were both catching a cold. It didn't hit me that they were allergic to the flowers till a day or so later when I was telling someone about the pretty bouquet that my sweet little girl had made.
I went straight to the flowers and chunked them out the door. Turns out I had been unknowingly making my children sick by something we thought was so harmless and beautiful. What I had originally thought would preach (the hidden spider) wasn't even the main issue anymore.
Sin isn't always as obvious as the spider that was dropping down from those pretty flowers. Quite often it seems beautiful and harmless at the time, until it's done it's damage. Satan is described as a beautiful & wise creature who is continuously looking for ways to devour you.
Be vigilant, stay alert, and don't pick the pretty golden rods in your ditch and bring them into your house.
